The former second vice president and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has participated this Monday in a summer course organized by the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), which is his first public reappearance after leaving active politics on May 4.
Specifically, Iglesias has given an inaugural lecture of the course entitled Political advice to governments and public administrations, which started this Monday and is directed by the dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences from the UCM María Esther del Campo García and the professor from this university Jorge Resina de la Fuente.
According to sources around the former vice president, Iglesias’ talk is unpaid and has participated in the inauguration of this course after being invited by the organizers. Therefore, it is a “specific” and “specific” intervention.
Iglesias, since he left active politics after the Madrid elections, has been two months without participating in public events nor make comments on social networks.
In fact, he did not attend the fourth Citizen Assembly of Podemos that elected the Minister of Social Rights, Ione Grass, as his relief in front of the purple formation.
With his participation in this course, Iglesias has opted for an academic return to the public sphere, before a small group of doctoral students in Political Sciences, and within the framework of the institution where he was an associate professor before promoting Podemos.
This course has a number of places for 30 students and is aimed at people “with knowledge and experience in the field of politics and public administration who want to dedicate themselves academically or professionally to political advice”, according to the description on the website of the Complutense summer courses.
