The leader of the CDS-PP, Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos, said today that the Government urgently needs a reshuffle, considering that the executive, led by the socialist António Costa, is decomposing.

“This Government urgently needs a reshuffle. And if António Costa does not carry out this remodeling, he becomes responsible for the political mistakes of the ministers he does not replace.”, said Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos, in the parish of Graça, municipality of Pedrógão Grande (Leiria), in the presentation of the party’s candidates in this municipality to the municipal elections.

For the president of the CDS-PP, “this remodeling must be done in a Government that treats the State as its home, which makes impunity the rule and political irresponsibility a form of management”.

Before, the Christian Democrat argued that “the Government is decomposing with each passing day and losing credibility in the eyes of the Portuguese and giving Portugal a bad name, through this accumulation of cases that have happened.”

Among these cases, he referred to the “breaking of the political and social consensus in the fight against the pandemic” of covid-19 or the “appointments of ‘boys’ for bucks and pots in the state, like Adão e Silva”, commissioner of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.

Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos also pointed out the “unbelievable gaffes and blunders in the Internal Administration, in Justice, which is starting to be colonized with the minister’s friends to favor the Socialist Party and with this case of unbelievable persecution of children in Vila Nova de Famalicão who do not want to attend classes on Education for Citizenship and Development”.

To the prime minister, the president of the CDS-PP suggested starting with the minister of Internal Administration, Eduardo Cabrita, who “has lost the confidence of the Portuguese for a long time, lost the credibility and authority that a minister of a government deserves. from Portugal”.

“It’s time to do more, because this Government is decomposing with each passing hour that passes for all to see”, he reiterated, declaring that, “for all these reasons, a responsible political party is needed to put the house in order and that party will always be the CDS-PP”.

Today, the president of the PSD, Rui Rio, said that the “wear” and “disorientation” of António Costa’s government was notorious, considering the need for a reshuffle that, if he were prime minister, would include Eduardo Cabrita.

The prime minister, António Costa, said on Saturday, in an interview with Público newspaper, that “no reshuffling” of the Government is planned, and defended the work of its ministers and government stability.

In recent days, some parties have defended the resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Eduardo Cabrita.

In another interview with the weekly Expresso, published on Friday, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, said he hoped that the PS “allow him to finish” his professional activity, in the coming years, at the Faculty of Economics of Porto .

In commenting on these statements, the prime minister considered that Santos Silva is still “about five years old” and that, “even the coldest rationalist, there is always a moment of ingenuity when talking to journalists.”
