The Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities this Thursday they will charter a boat from the Balearic Islands so that the young people who are isolated and in quarantine in hotels by having had a close contact they can return to their regions of origin.

This has been confirmed by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, at the press conference after the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS).

Although these transfers will be coordinated by the Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities, Darias has acknowledged that they cannot prevent people from moving “freely”. For this reason, he has recorded that several young people have already started to leave the hotels and return to their cities of origin.

“The Ministry together with Balearic Islands, Andalusia, Basque Country, Madrid and Galicia we are going to coordinate actions for the return of all students to their places of residence, “reported the head of the health portfolio.

The decision is made after the contentious-administrative court number 3 of Palma has suspended the confinement of the students who have given negative in PCR test after the macro outbreak of student parties on the islands.

Boat to Valencia

Darias explained that they are going to coordinate a “common” departure to try to “minimize the contacts of these people” with other passengers.

The minister explained that “first thing in the morning” the ship will transfer the young people from Balearic Islands to Valencia and “there the autonomous communities will charter devices to pick up students”.

Regarding those affected, Carolina Darias has detailed that up to 1,824 young people have tested positive for Covid-19 within the outbreak caused by the end-of-course trips in MallorcaWhile another 5,978 are close contacts who must be quarantined.

Minutes and CART

In a different vein, the Health Councilors and the Ministry have met in their first face-to-face face-to-face to approve other non-Covid matters such as the distribution of 796.1 million euros for renovation of the technology park, of which 400 will be invested during 2020.

Regarding this item, Darias has specified that it will enable the technological renovation of the “100% of the teams of the National Health System that are 12 or more years old“and, additionally, of the linear accelerators and TC of 10-11 years (585 teams).

They have also approved the sale of Covid tests in pharmacies, which is pending the report of the Council of State, and the price of the first public CART against leukemia. “Great news for Spanish research and patients that will have a tremendously competitive price,” said Darias.

In another vein, the directors have not reached an agreement with Health regarding the approval of the minutes of the previous inter-territorial councils (more than 60). Darias has confirmed that it has not been possible and that it is a point that will be set for the next face-to-face CISNS that is scheduled for after the summer.

These minutes are of great relevance as they show the internal discussions of the Ministry during the management of the toughest months of the pandemic and the councilors have wanted them to be “very specific” and not “concise” with dates, agenda and assistants as, supposedly, they have been presented this Wednesday.

Regarding the creation of new committees, it has been agreed to set up two: one to improve the digitization of public health and the other to investigate the management of the pandemic.

The Commission on Digital Health was created with the objective of “contributing to co-governance with the Autonomous Communities in this matter and facilitating the interoperability of the projects of the different public administrations”.
