Mexico City.- The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced in his morning conference that the National Guard (GN) already has 100,000 elements working to provide security throughout the Mexican territory.
AMLO made this announcement within the framework of the second anniversary of the creation of the National Guard, taking up the progress that has been made in the military institution, which was created during its six-year term.
Andrés Manuel compared the GN with the Federal police, created during the administration of Felipe Calderon, and that at its best it had 40 thousand elements, 50% of them as operational elements and the rest as administrative elements.

“There are already 100 thousand elements of the National Guard, at its best, the federal police had 40 thousand elements, but half were administrative, 20 thousand elements were operational”declared AMLO.
In this sense, the president celebrated that two years after it was created, the GN grew 5 times compared to the Federal Police, which was undone when his administration began.
In addition, he recognized the role of Armed Forces of Mexico for the qualification and training of the elements of the GN in its two years of experience.
“The national guard in two years has grown 5 times what it had and all these elements have been trained, disciplined by the Secretary of the Navy as the Secretary of National Defense”, he asserted.
Andrés Manuel reported that to date there are 165 barracks throughout the country, making progress in the creation of more GN facilities.
