Switzerland goalkeeper Jan Sommer commented on the team’s victory over France in the 1/8 finals of the European Championship. His words are quoted by Spox.

Sommer stated that the meeting against the French was similar to a Hollywood movie, so he should call actor Robert De Niro and offer to play him in a film dedicated to this game. He felt that France was behaving arrogantly with the score 3: 1, which allowed his team to recoup. “This is history. Nobody believed in us, but we swore and said that we would reach the end, ”the footballer summed up.

Switzerland defeated France earlier on June 29th. The main time of the game ended with the score 3: 3, while up to the 81st minute the French were leading 3: 1. The Swiss were stronger in the penalty shootout – 5: 4. The decisive blow from the striker Kilian Mbappe was repulsed by Sommer. After the match, the Frenchman apologized for his mistake.

The victory led the Swiss to the quarterfinals, where the team will face Spain.
