Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on Tuesday the purchase of the Housemarque video game studio, responsible for the game of the new generation of Returnal consoles, and has incorporated it into its own PlayStation Studios studios.

The Finnish study Helsinki-based Housemarque, is known for the development of shooting or arcade games, including eight PlayStation exclusive titles like Nex Machina, Alienation and Returnal, released on April 30 for PS5.

Now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced in a statement that Housemarque to join PlayStation Studios, the company’s own set of video game studios, along with the 12 existing developers.

Day-to-day operations will continue under Housemarque’s current leadership in collaboration with the external development team at PlayStation Studios. The terms of the transaction, including the cost of the acquisition, are not in the public domain for reasons of contractual confidentiality.
