Maria Eugenia Vidal remains determined not to participate of the legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires. This was informed, days ago, to Mauricio Macri, in a private meeting held in the Los Abrojos farm, owned by the former president. In this context, a small change in the Twitter account of the former governor takes importance: in her biography, the slogan “proudly Buenos Aires” that she maintained for years no longer appears.

“Proud mother of Camila, María José and Pedrito. Proudly from Buenos Aires”Said the biography of María Eugenia Vidal’s Twitter account since she left the Buenos Aires deputy head of government and became a candidate for governor of the Province in 2015. Now the text has been modified: the “pride” of the leader with the Province, while, from his surroundings, rumors of a possible candidacy in the City of Buenos Aires increase.

Vidal’s position adds more gasoline to the fire of the Juntos por el Cambio intern, especially, to the wishes of Mauricio Macri, who wanted the former governor to be the first on the list of the Together for Change ballot in Buenos Aires territory. Is that for the former president, Vidal is the “yellow” leader who measures the most on the other side of General Paz.

With that objective he had decided to receive, during the last weekend, who was his deputy head of the Buenos Aires government. And for an hour Macri tried to persuade Vidal to be a candidate in the Province. Lthe response of the former governor was blunt: “No.”

Now the option being considered for the immediate political future of the former governor is that she present herself as a candidate for the City of Buenos Aires: she knows the district, she is in discursive harmony with Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Diego Santilli, and Together for Change is officialdom there. But that intention collides again with Macri’s plans: Although he tries not to take sides publicly, Macri wants to prevent Vidal from competing with the president of the PRO, Patricia Bullrich.
