A little over a year after his departure in the USA, service streaming HBO Max will arrive in Peru and the rest of Latin America this June 29, becoming the last of the great platforms – Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ y Disney+ – to reach the region.

WarnerMedia’s offering reaches South America, Central America and the Caribbean loaded not only with all the power of HBO, but also with titans in entertainment such as DC Comics, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, The CW and more.

Thus, this platform will be the only streaming place where popular series such as “Game of Thrones”, “Sopranos” Y “Mare of Easttown”, But also movie franchises like Harry Potter, the DC superhero movies. Meanwhile, it has also acquired the rights to broadcast series such as “Friends”, “The Prince of Rap” and “South Park”, among other attractive productions.

Lastly, HBO Max has also invested in original programming sourced from the region. On April 29, it announced that 100 regional productions will join its catalog in the next two years, with some of them already announced. Then there are the Argentine musical drama “Días de gallos” and the Mexican comedy “Búnker”, among some other productions with which the service hopes to promote the audiovisual industry in Latin America.


HBO Max announced its launch for 39 territories in Latin America and the Caribbean. This includes: Anguilla, Antigua, Argentina, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uruguay and Venezuela.


Although HBO has not made an official announcement of what time its streaming service will be available on June 29, a countdown on the HBO GO platform page seems to indicate that It will be at 8:30 am (Peru time).

It should be noted that this countdown differs depending on the country. For example, an Argentine colleague indicated that When visiting the same page, the start time was 7:30 am (Argentina time), despite the fact that the time difference between neighboring countries is two hours.


At the moment HBO Max is offering two plans for the entire region. The first is the Standard Plan, which allows access to three users simultaneously and presents video in high definition up to 4K.

Cheaper is the Mobile Plan, which is focused on the experience on cell phones and tablets. This limits the use of the account to only one user at a time and standard quality.

The price in the Peru will be from S /. 30 for the Standard Plan and S / .20 for the Mobile Plan.

Additionally, HBO Max will offer a selected portion of its content for free to encourage new subscribers, as well as a seven-day trial.


Although this is a new streaming platform, WarnerMedia operated for years in the region with its HBO Go service. As indicated on their website, customers of this service will also have access to HBO Max. At the moment the company has not shared messages about how this transition will be, indicating that “shortly, we will be sharing more details about this process.”
