The XXX International Festival Canarias Jazz & Más starts this week with the concerts of Avishai Cohen and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST), at the live world premiere of their album Two Roses. Cohen arrives with the sign of no tickets for tomorrow’s concert at the Pérez Galdós Theater in Gran Canaria and with the last seats on sale for the one he will offer on Friday at the Tenerife Auditorium. Tickets are also sold out for the two Cimafunk concerts (Friday, Rincón del Jazz (Gran Canaria), and Saturday, Santo Domingo Convent, in La Laguna), so the festival starts with the best prospects, as they were also sold out in a matter of hours the tickets for Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, and those for Snarky Puppy go in the same direction.
After Tenerife reached level 3 of health alert, some concerts in Adeje and Santa Cruz change their location. Miguel Ramírez, director of the festival, explained this Tuesday that “the concerts that were going to be held in the Plaza de España in Adeje on the 9th and 10th will be moved to the Auditorium of the EMMA (Adeje Municipal School of Music), while the from the Plaza de la Candelaria in Santa Cruz on the 16th and 17th they go to the Espacio La Granja and the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife ”. In the web www.canariasjazz.com You can check the schedule and buy tickets.
The meeting with the press was attended by representatives of the main organizations and entities that collaborate and sponsor the festival, such as Juan Márquez, Regional Vice Minister of Culture, who defined the Canarias Jazz & Más as “part of our cultural heritage, it is already an institution”.
On this first weekend of the festival, the program also includes the performances of various local projects: Javier Infante & Pablo Rodríguez and Luismo Valladares Quartet will open the Tenerife concerts tomorrow Thursday at the Santo Domingo de La Laguna Convent; Yexza Lara & Pablo Selnik will perform in the previews of the Cimafunk concert in that same venue; Pablo Queu Sextet and Luis Merino will be on Saturday sharing the stage of the José Antonio Ramos Auditorium (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) and Russian Buzo will close this first weekend with a concert on Sunday the 4th at The Paper Club.
In this thirtieth edition, the Canarias Jazz & Más will reach the eight islands for the first time in the same edition (they had already performed concerts in all of them, but never in the same year).
