“You may not believe it, but there is magic around us. Although sometimes it is not easy to find”. It might sound like a line from Harry Potter, but no. Thus begins, with a voiceover (by Mr Bridwell), the trailer of the version with CGI and real image of Clifford the big red dog, the adaptation of books written by Norman Bridwell, and that from the year 2000 also gave rise to animation series, directed by Walt Beckers.

On the part of humans, the main protagonist is Emily Elizabeth, a young woman of great intelligence and who suffers the misunderstanding of her schoolmates, who will adopt Clifford. A puppy found by the enigmatic Mr. Bridwell, a magical animal retriever. In addition to having a new and faithful friend in your pet, your wishes will come true. The little hound will grow as much as the love she shows him And, said and done, in the course of one night Clifford will grow no less than ten feet.

With the huge and peculiar dog, adventure, and fun, is served. Both the apartment of Emily, the daughter of a single mother, like the streets of New York they will be the ideal setting for the adventures of its very canine protagonist.

The first reactions to Clifford’s appearance, in a video released last November, they not only considered it “horrifying” They also pointed out that it looked like it was covered in blood (and sure enough, the comments were reminiscent of those early Sonic designs as well). To definitively check how this combination of real action with CGI has been we have the first trailer released by Paramount. And it is that the recreation of his canine central character was not easy at all.

As for Walt Beckers, he already has experience in similar projects, since in 2015 he already directed Alvin and the Chipmunks, Party on Wheels; while Emily is played by Darby Camp (Kate in both installments of Christmas Chronicles, and has also appeared in the series Big Little Lies).

Jack Whitehall plays another of the main characters, the cool and impulsive uncle Emily. And all a veteran and icon of comedy, the member of the mythical Monty Python John Cleese, is the one who assumes the role of the narrator Mr. Bridwell.

Clifford the big red dog It is slated to be released in North American theaters. September 17, although there is still no specific date for it to reach our screens. Paramount Spain announces for the moment which will be “soon”.
