With each movie, this Universal Pictures franchise gets more and more adventurous (not to say far-fetched). Not even the sky is a limit when it comes to Toretto and company taking us for a walk along a path full of unexpected turns. After all, something that these characters have shown us is that the rancheras do not sing badly when it comes to putting an end to any threat. But is it that rancheras literally don’t sing badly? Some days ago, Vin Diesel answered whether it’s tuned enough for a hypothetical musical movie by Fast and furious.

On the occasion of the promotional tour of Fast and furious 9, recently Vin Diesel made an appearance at The Kelly Clarkson Show. There the driver did not beat around the bush and asked the interpreter of Dominic Toretto if he would sign up for a musical tape sheltered by the multi-million dollar franchise. However, it will come as no surprise that the actor who voices Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy) has preferred to go around the bush.

«Well I’m dying to make a musical. All my life I’ve been dying to make a musical », confessed Diesel (via). «I was this close to doing Guys and Dolls with Steven Spielberg, but in the end we didn’t. But, I’m dying to make a musical. For a long time, I thought that Nathan Detroit’s role in Guys and Dolls it would be very interesting to renew, the one that Frank Sinatra interpreted ».

As a curious fact, a remake of that 1955 musical tape (known in Mexico as Them and them) was reported in Spring 2019, under the TriStar Pictures seal. However, at the time it was not said that Steven Spielberg was linked to the project. And as if that were not enough, in two years there have been no new updates on the matter.

On the other hand, Spielberg has obvious experience with this film genre. Without going any further, by the end of 2021 the premiere of its version of West Side Story, starring Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort. Unfortunately, Vin Diesel is not involved here, but if he proposes, he may convince the Oscar-winning filmmaker to use his skills as a singer and dancer, in case he later directs another musical film. It helps that both of you are familiar with each other. Recall that the actor worked under Spielberg’s orders during the filming of the war feature film Saving Private Ryan.

Now, can you imagine Steven Spielberg directing Vin Diesel in a musical tape of Fast and furious? That would be dreaming big.

Fast and furious 9 premiered in Mexican theaters last week. Come on here to read the review of Cine PREMIERE.

Antonio G. Spinola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
