Jean-Marc Schiappa, Marlène Schiappa’s father, joined the Vigie de laïcité, an independent organization which strongly contests the government.

Being sabotaged by her own family? Marlène Schiappa is currently having a painful experience! The Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship has just seen her father, Jean-Marc Schiappa, found an organization called the Vigie de laïcité.

This independent association aims to provide “expertise based on reason, knowledge and critical debate”.

“We want to keep this critical mind”

La Vigie de laïcité has just been created in reaction to the abolition by the government of the Observatory of laïcité. This independent body has been very critical of government policy on several occasions.

La Vigie de laïcité thus intends to take over. Its vice-president, Valentine Zuber, said:

For several months, the government has wanted to make secularism a republican value imposed from above. We want to keep this critical spirit specific to academics and reject any dogmatic discourse that goes as far as stigmatizing part of the population.

Jean-Marc Schiappa is determined to fight the government

The choice of Jean-Marc Schiappa to be one of the founders is therefore a clear opposition to the government of Emmanuel Macron of which his daughter belongs. A witness reported to the World that the professional historian had:

fully aware of the weight of his presence. He did it in good conscience.

Asked by Mediapart, Jean-Marc Schiappa himself stated:

Is freedom of conscience absolute or is it limited by administrative circulars? We see the frightening notion of controlled freedom emerging before our eyes.

In any case, family meals at the Schiappa’s promise to be lively. Failing to happen in concord! And the work of the Vigie de laïcité has only just begun. We can not wait to see the reactions of Marlène Schiappa as the probably salty press releases of the association vis-à-vis the government.
