Today marks the 20th anniversary of the 2001 Copa Libertadores Final Boca Juniors vs Blue Cross. That game paralyzed Mexican soccer and completely changed the life of Federico Vilar.

Before that game, it happened that when I went to buy the ticket, I met the person who brought me four or five days later. Mexico. Maybe if I was not going to see that game, I would not find that person and I would not come to Mexico.

“He had been released, he was in another club, the Final was being played Boca vs Blue Cross and the days before I went to get a ticket, you couldn’t get it, it was chaos. I went to the stadium because I had an acquaintance there and at that moment I met the person who in later days (the Final was played on a Wednesday and on Friday I was traveling to Mexico) “, he detailed in a talk with RECORD.

Federico He returned home that night with a smile on his lips, the team of his loves had won the Libertadores twice in a row. Upon arrival, his mother told him that the manager he had met had called him, and at that moment he agreed to travel and play for him.
