First came the revolutionary Aston Martin Valkyrie series model. Now, we find a radical evolution in the sensational form of the new Valkyrie AMR Pro: a machine that, taking as a starting point a vehicle designed to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, goes even further and delves into extreme performance. without the limitations of competition regulations or restrictions associated with road use.
In 2019 Aston Martin, Adrian Newey, Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT) and engineering partner Multimatic worked piecemeal on a competition design for the Aston Martin Valkyrie, with the goal of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the new class Hypercar. This massively advanced design has now become the basis for the revolutionary new Valkyrie AMR Pro.
While the original concept car, unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, largely sought to derive the maximum possible performance from the standard Valkyrie platform, the new Valkyrie AMR Pro incorporates the clean-lined chassis optimized for the competition and the aerodynamic and powertrain improvements of the project created for Le Mans. In addition, thanks to the freedom of design and performance from competition regulations, the capabilities of the AMR Pro now exceed those of the vehicle designed to compete for victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The result of a technological collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT), the Valkyrie AMR Pro is a model of unmatched power and extraordinary capabilities. It is based on a unique version of the Valkyrie chassis with a 380 millimeter longer wheelbase and 96mm greater tread width on the front axle and 115mm greater on the rear axle. The Valkyrie AMR Pro also features an exceptional aerodynamic package that increases the length by 266mm; and, thanks to the control of the air flow in the underbody and on the vehicle, it achieves extraordinary levels of downforce. The Valkyrie AMR Pro effortlessly achieves downforce twice that of the standard Valkyrie, as well as lateral acceleration greater than 3G.
In order to keep weight and lap times as low as possible, the Valkyrie AMR Pro uses only a modified version of Cosworth’s stunning 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. This masterpiece of internal combustion reaches up to 11,000 RPM and delivers 1,015 hp. The weight reduction has been achieved through the elimination of the battery-electric hybrid system and a set of measures to lighten the vehicle, such as the ultra-light carbon fiber body, the carbon suspension arms and the Perspex windshield and windows. . If to this is added an aerodynamic efficiency higher than that stipulated in the class regulations Hypercar At Le Mans, the Valkyrie AMR Pro will offer track performance approaching that of a Formula 1 car.
More details on the specifications and performance of the Valkyrie AMR Pro will be published later this year; however, the expected lap time of 3 minutes and 20 seconds at the 13.6 km circuit at the 24 hours of Le Mans means that the exceptional performance of the Valkyrie AMR Pro would have it racing with the best cars in the class. LMP1 for the victory in the most important endurance event in the world.
Tobias Moers, Aston Martin CEO, comments: “The entire Aston Martin Valkyrie program has been an extraordinary engineering adventure. As an expression of the passion and know-how of Aston Martin and its closest technical partners, the Valkyrie AMR Pro It is a project like no other, a true ‘no limits’ version designed exclusively for the circuits. The Valkyrie AMR Pro is testament to Aston Martin’s commitment to the purest performance, and these features, which are part of our DNA, will be seen embodied in our future product catalog. There is nothing with a similar design, nothing that sounds like it ?? and I am completely sure that nothing will offer a similar driving experience! “
Complementing the Valkyrie AMR Pro, designed exclusively for the track, customers will have the opportunity to attend a special track day held by Aston Martin at various FIA international tracks around the world. The experience will include access to the track and pits, support from the Aston Martin Valkyrie instructor team, an exclusive FIA driver’s jumpsuit and a VIP dinner. The days on the circuit will be open to all customers who purchase an Aston Martin Valkyrie, and there will also be a selection of experiences Art of Living, which will cover some of the most challenging and dynamic roads in the UK and Europe, America and elsewhere. Additional information about these exclusive experiences will be released later this year, serving to present the Valkyrie in the most spectacular way possible.
Following the completion of extensive development work with powerful simulation tools, physical testing of the Valkyrie AMR Pro will begin shortly; To ensure the Valkyrie AMR Pro delivers the ultimate driving experience, Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team drivers will be involved from the outset in developing the vehicle’s dynamic setup.
All cars will be left-hand drive and there will be a production batch of 40 vehicles and two prototypes. The beginning of the first deliveries is scheduled for Q4 2021.
