After being asked whether the leader of the government in the Chamber, the deputy Ricardo Barros (PP), exerts some influence on the Ministry of Health, the minister Marcelo Queiroga he countered and said that no parliamentarian has interference in the portfolio, that he, the secretaries and all other civil servants are responsible for conducting the work of the ministry. The statement was given during a press conference in Paraíba. The suspicion arose after the deputy’s testimony Luis Miranda (DEM) to the CPI of Covid-19. The congressman stated that Barros is the deputy to whom the president Jair Bolsonaro he would have referred when he became aware of the suspicions of corruption in the Indian vaccine purchase contract Covaxin. The president, however, admitted having received the deputy for a conversation, but said that corruption was not mentioned at the meeting. Asked if he intends to take any action in relation to the suspicions, Queiroga said that this is not a direct action by the minister and that the case needs to go through an administrative process that makes a proper determination of the responsibilities.
