TBILISI, June 27 – Sputnik. A citizen of Georgia, who was serving a sentence in a prison in the city of Chania on the island of Crete, died in a cell from his stab wounds, the information is disseminated by the Georgian Embassy in Greece.

According to the embassy, ​​a cellmate of the deceased, who is also a citizen of Georgia, is accused of the murder.

Initially, information about the incident appeared in the Greek media on June 26, after which the consul contacted the administration of the prison in the city of Chania.

“Having received information about the incident, the consul of the Georgian Embassy in Greece talked with the head of the prison administration in the city of Chania, who confirmed this fact in a private conversation. He also said that the family of the killed had already been informed about the death of a Georgian citizen,” the embassy said.

The Georgian Embassy expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and is ready to provide all kinds of assistance. The consul is in constant contact with the prison administration.

The embassy’s message says nothing about the reasons for the conflict between the two immigrants from Georgia.
