Javi Martínez rules out Athletic and head to Qatar

Former Bayern Munich player Javi Martínez has already made his decision as to where he will play in the coming seasons. It will do so in the Middle East, precisely in Qatar SC.

The Qatari club has published a video on social networks where the Navarrese player sends a message in English greeting the fans and saying that “see you very soon”, implying that his signing will be made official as soon as possible.

Goodbye to the Athletic option

With this welcome message to Qatar SC, Athletic is forced to discard the option of repechaging Javi Martínez.

From Bilbao they confirmed that they had several conversations about the possibility that the Navarrese player would wear the red-and-white shirt again. Something that will not happen due to Martinez’s decision. The Bilbao club offered a two-season contract with a 2.5 million euro chip per season.

It should be remembered that Javi Martínez was at Athletic Club for six seasons where he was a participant in that team led by Marcelo Bielsa and that reached the final of the Copa del Rey and the Europa League.

In 2012 the player moved to Munich where he became an important figure for the German team. In his nine seasons at the Bavarian club he won 24 titles: two Club World Cups, two Champions League, two European Super Cups, nine Bundesligas, five German Cups and 4 German Super Cups.
