The new Tamagotchi is a smartwatch

The Tamagotchi was one of the first wearables, so it was inevitable that it would end up being marketed in the form of a smartwatch.

This year is the 25th Anniversary of the Tamagotchi. The data may not tell you anything, or make you feel annoyingly older, depending on your age. But it is a relevant anniversary, because when it was presented in 1996, Tamagotchi it caused a real revolution all over the world. It was one of the first virtual pets, which you could also carry with you in your pocket, or on a key ring.

After a time gone, and despite the fact that today there are dozens of virtual pets in toy form, and thousands in the form of mobile app, the Tamagotchi returned to the market a few years ago.

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary, Bandai is going to release a new version called Tamagotchi Smart, which is basically the model of a lifetime but in smartwatch format. You can see it in this video:

The first thing that stands out is how inordinately thick the clock is. We do not know if it is intentional, to make it look like a toy, or they have done it so as not to lose the feeling of pet egg

As a smartwatch does not do much: counts steps, has clock functions, and plays music. It is much more interesting as container of virtual pets.

Now pets are in full color, and there are many different ones. As is usual in this type of game, you have to feed them, make them sleep, wash them, interact with them, etc.

Thanks to the touchscreen the pet can be touched directly and caressed, although the buttons have not disappeared.

This automatic pet feeder has a 3-liter tank to feed up to 4 meals a day. You can record a personalized audio to call your pet and have him come to eat at his turn.

Another novelty is that you can communicate with her using your voice.

Finally, there is a kind of pendrive or smart card that is inserted into the watch, and allows you to add new pets, decorative objects, etc.

Tamagotchi Smart It will go on sale on November 23 in Japan. At the moment there is no date in the West, but the logical thing is that it arrives in time for the Christmas gifts.
