The defendants’ lawyers intend to appeal the court decision on the transfer of children to a foster family, arguing that the parents are innocent and the investigation has no direct evidence

TBILISI, 19 Jun – Sputnik. The Tbilisi City Court handed over to the foster family a six-year-old boy who had been bullied by his mother and stepfather, and his younger brother, Channel One reports.

The detention of the mother and stepfather of the boys was reported on Saturday morning by the Georgian Interior Ministry. According to the investigation, they mocked and tortured the eldest son.

At the trial, the family’s lawyers tried to prove the parents’ innocence, but the judge still decided to transfer the children to a foster family for six months.

Meanwhile, the lawyers intend to appeal the court decision, arguing that the parents are innocent and the investigation has no direct evidence.

The Georgian Interior Ministry does not tell the details of the case, but the Georgian media found out the details from family friends.

It was they who turned to the police after the mother sent them a way to punish her son. The child’s hands and feet were tied, and his hands were severely burned. It also turned out that as a punishment, he was starved to death for several days.

Meanwhile, parents face 9 to 15 years in prison for torture committed by a group of persons against a minor. On Sunday at the trial, the prosecutor’s office will demand that they be placed in pre-trial detention.
