The PSD candidate for the Chamber of Gaia, António Oliveira, this Friday, withdrew from the race for the Chamber of Gaia in the next municipal councils. Rui Rio said ignore, for the time being, any withdrawal, but admitted “relationship difficulties”.
In the open letter to which TVI had access, António Oliveira speaks of “pressure, intimidation and threats” and also said that he never thought that politics and parties “could descend to such a low and so miserable level”.
For three months I was subjected to pressure, intimidation and threats. They tried to impose on me the worst of the “party grocer” and tried to involve me in the most unbelievable deals on places. Anyway, they wanted to force me to employ the beneficiaries of the policy’s minimum income”, reads in the document.
I don’t know this PSD who, in Gaia, is a prisoner of those who only do him harm, to do good to himself. I didn’t want to believe that it was possible to make politics based on the worst principles of the human species. But here, in Gaia, in my usual party, that’s what happens”, he added.
It was following these statements that the Social Democrat said: “I don’t want, I can’t and I don’t accept to continue leading this candidacy”. However, he made a point of clarifying that this decision was not a withdrawal, but a “hygiene issue”.
A refusal to put the interests of some characters ahead of the interests of the 300,000 Gaians and people who chose this great council to make their living.”
António Oliveira guaranteed that he will not name “responsible, guilty or traitors”, but made a point of making it clear that “they are the same people who have been harming the party for too many years.”
In a final note, he left a word to the president of the PSD: “Dr. Rui Rio is not to blame for what happened. He will have been, as I was, a victim of the device. He will have been, as I was, betrayed by a machine that he does everything for places, positions and salamales”.
I don’t need this to feel like I’m making a contribution to society. I don’t need this to thank my country for everything it was able to give me. I don’t need this policy. I will definitely find other projects for citizen participation, perhaps even in Gaia, in which I can healthily play a full and serious role. I need much more to feel and be true to my values. I need much more not to compromise my dignity.”
Until now, the candidatures of former national selector António Oliveira (PSD), Member of the Assembly of the Republic Diana Ferreira (CDU), civil engineer Renato Soeiro, who in 2017 was head of the Block list, have been made official to the Vila Nova de Gaia Council. of Left (BE) and that of manager Alcides Couto (Chega).
