They confirmed that next week the export of meat will be reopened

The closure to the export of meat comes to an end. The Government confirmed that the doors to the item will be reopened next week. The Minister of Productive Development, Matias Kulfas, was in charge of ensuring that a new export scheme will be presented in the next few hours.

Kulfas said that the design of the mechanism for the export of beef is being finalized. On Sunday, the 30-day restriction for marketing to the international market, which had been arranged with the aim of ordering the chain and increasing production, will expire.

Get back on track

“The idea,” said Kulfas, “is that through the new scheme of rules of the game that we are finishing designing, from next week we will be able to resume the export path, seeking to guarantee meat on the Argentine table. We want all popular cuts to be accessible, “he said.

“The way out of this is that Argentina can overcome the historical barrier of 3 million tons per year of beef. If we could go to a level of 5 million, which is our great objective, in that case, we could guarantee ourselves 3 million tons for the domestic market that would allow consumption to recover and at the same time we could have 2 million tons to export, which would be double what was exported last year, “he added.

In the next few hours, the Government will announce if they will do it by quotas or will release the exit completely. They do so after agreeing with exporters to guarantee supply in the domestic market. As it transpired, up to now, the proposals submitted by the exporting refrigerators “are not acceptable” because they did not allow “to generate an adequate price for the Argentines.”
