They arrest "roving frames" Y "pungas" in the downtown

Urban Guard personnel detained three women and a man who are engaged in the criminal modality of “mecheras” and “pungas” in the capital’s microcenter.

On Wednesday afternoon, at the intersection of Muñecas and San Juan streets, the detainees were caught prowling the commercial area with the intention of committing an offense. These are people known to commit theft on public roads. They were accompanied by a 17-year-old teenager.

As police personnel approached, they tried to flee by walking quickly, but were intercepted. They were upset, insulted and resisted, but were eventually apprehended. The Flagrancia II Prosecutor’s Unit endorsed the apprehensions of the 19 and 40-year-old women, the man, 21, and the minor, 17, who was transferred to the CAD (Admission and Referral Center).

Meanwhile, this morning the Guardia Urbana troops apprehended another woman accused of stealing from a downtown business premises. In addition, they caught a minor in an attempted robbery with a firearm.

The procedures were supervised by the Inspector Commissioner Juan Ibáñez and the Chief Commissioner Silvio Luna, director and deputy director of Guardia Urbana respectively.


Ibáñez detailed the main recommendations for passersby to avoid theft. “The most important thing is to avoid crowds, first because of criminal acts, and secondly because of the biosecurity measures that are in force due to the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, be attentive to the goods such as wallet, cell phone and take them in a safe place “he said.

“Finally, in the event of any eventuality or suspicion, alert the police who are in the downtown area. If a police officer is not spotted with the speed required, automatically call the Integrated Emergency System 911 ”, he recommended.
