The mobile DANA that is affecting Spain It has already wreaked havoc and will continue to do so for hours to come. More than half of the country is on a meteorological alert this Thursday due to the risk of strong storms accompanied by wind and hail and a forecast of intense rains that can accumulate up to 30 liters per square meter and put 4 autonomies on orange notice and yellow to 10 others.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) reports on its website that on this day there is an orange warning (significant risk) for rains and storms in Aragon, Catalonia, Navarra and the Basque Country, while in Asturias, Cantabria, the two Castiles, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, La Rioja and the Valencian Community the warning is yellow (risk).
Also in Andalusia there is a yellow alert but in this case due to a coastal wind of force 7 in Almería, which is also expected in the Murcia and Pontevedra coastline.
In Aragon they have an orange alert for rainfall of up to 30 liters per square meter in one hour in Zaragoza and Huesca, which can lead to storms accompanied by strong wind and hail and be somewhat less intense in the province of Teruel.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in Catalonias and in the form of a storm in the Pyrenees of Lleida and with slightly less intensity in Girona, the Tarragona coastline and in the province of Barcelona, where there is the possibility of stormy showers with wind and hail.
Navarra has an orange alert for up to 30 liters of precipitation in an hour and storms in the Pyrenees and the center of the region, somewhat less severe on the banks of the Ebro, while in the Basque Country the significant risk of rain and storm corresponds to Guipúzcoa but they are also announced somewhat less intense rains in the other Basque provinces.
In the two Castiles there is a yellow alert for rain and stormy phenomena, in the case of Castilla-La Mancha in the provinces of Albacete, Guadalajara, Ciudad Real and Cuenca where it is forecastn up to 15 liters per square meter of precipitation in an hour, and the same is expected to happen throughout the community of Castilla y León.
In Galicia the alert is yellow for rain of up to 15 liters per square meter throughout the community, the same amount that water can reach per square meter in one hour in Asturias and the Community of Madrid, where it is possible that from 3:00 p.m. strong storms will return accompanied by wind and hail.
In Cantabria there is a yellow alert for rainfall of 15 liters per square meter in the center and on the coast and in Murcia, La Rioja and the Valencian Community, rains of between 15 and 20 liters of water accumulated in an hour are also announced and storms with a higher probability of storms in Castellón and strong gusts of wind on the shore of the Riojan Ebro.
The Aemet warns that with the orange alert there is a major weather risk, unusual meteorological phenomena and with a certain degree of danger for usual activities, and with yellow there is no meteorological risk for the general population, although there is for some specific activity.
