Spain exceeds 13 million immunized with coronavirus vaccines, the 27.4% population, after administering 389,822 sera in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health. The latest vaccination report also indicates that there are currently 21,713,840 citizens with at least the first inoculated serum, 45.3% of the population.
While health personnel advance as fast as they can to reach the next milestone in the vaccination plan announced in April by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez (“the week of June 14, 15 million vaccinated with the complete schedule”), the directors of Public Health of the Autonomous Communities and the Ministry of Health, which make up the Public Health Commission, have approved this Tuesday the vaccination of three new population groups.
Specifically, these are the three new age groups that will be included in the next update of the vaccination strategy against covid-19, which will already be the eighth:
- The group 11: it will be made up of people between 30 and 39 years;
- The group 12, which includes people between 20 and 29 years;
- And the group 13, which encompasses adolescents between 12 and 19 years.
Health reported this Tuesday that, “taking into account the increased availability of vaccines In these coming weeks, the current epidemiological situation and the entry into the summer period, and due to organizational and feasibility issues, the uptake of different groups may overlap, maintaining the descending age order“.
According to the Health report, this Tuesday the communities had a little more than 4 million serums in the refrigerators, an amount that is expected to increase in the coming days with the arrival of new vials
Likewise, the technicians stressed that “it is essential to insist on uptake of people aged 40 and over who have not yet been vaccinated“.
Currently all the Autonomies are vaccinating people who are between 40 and 49 years old. And there are already several that have advanced towards the population of 30 to 39 years or are preparing for its imminent beginning.
While advancing in descending age order, when reaching those under 19 years of age, the Public Health Commission has agreed on the need to prioritize adolescent vaccination from 12 years old who belong to groups 1, 4 and 7 (large dependents and very high risk conditions), after the approval of the vaccination for this age group on May 31.
In this regard, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, stated a few weeks ago that they are studying vaccinating all schoolchildren at some high schools. two weeks before the start of the next course in September.
