Cologne –

On Thursday, June 17th, the members’ meeting of 1. FC Cologne will take place in the empty Lanxess Arena. The day before the election, the club still had to struggle to provide all registered members with access data. But by the start at 6 p.m. (in the EXPRESS live ticker), this obstacle should also be overcome. The most important item on the agenda is the election of Carsten Wettich (41) as Vice President. And he is now getting substantial support.

  • Carsten Wettich gets support from the advisory board of 1. FC Köln
  • Lionel Souque supports Carsten Wettich’s candidacy
  • Wettich wants to be a member of the council as vice-president of 1. FC Köln

1. FC Köln: Lionel Souque comments on the newsletter

The business lawyer who lives in Düsseldorf is proposed by the members’ council. Its chairmen Ho-Yeon Kim (42) and Christian Hoheisel (46) justified the change in the EXPRESS.

One day before the election, Wettich received support from other sources. The powerful advisory board with its chairman Lionel Souque (49) expressed itself in a newsletter to the members – and called for the election of Wettich. Lionel Souque: “Carsten Wettich’s expertise is an important addition to the management team. Therefore the advisory board recommends his choice. ”At the general meeting he will send a video message to the connected members according to EXPRESS information.

The contract between REWE and 1. FC Köln expires next summer

The signal is particularly important because Souque, as CEO of the REWE retail group, has a dual role at 1. FC Köln. On the one hand, he is a committed board member with a huge fan heart, on the other hand, as a shirt sponsor, he is one of the club’s main donors. The contract with REWE expires next summer, and talks about an extension are reportedly not yet underway.

First of all, it’s about Wettich’s choice anyway. Member Council Chairman Ho-Yeon Kim also made it clear once again in the newsletter: “From our point of view, Carsten Wettich is an excellent choice.”
