The validity of INE credentials for consultation of former presidents will be extended

The General Council of National Electoral Institute (INE) approved to extend the term of validity of the expired credentials in the years 2019 and 2020 until August 1, 2021 to participate in the popular consultation.

Initially, the electoral body decided that due to contingency reasons and before the electoral elections of June 6, the validity of expired credentials would be extended in 2019 and 2020.

Said validity was modified once again so that voters with these valid dates can participate in the popular consultation scheduled for August 1, 2021.

These resolutions come after the proposal made by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and which was approved by the Senate.
