Cerro Castor: a new snow season starts at the End of the World

Cerro Castor has everything ready for the opening of its complex and the start of the longest ski season in Argentina, which will begin on Friday, July 2.

The slopes present an unbeatable quantity and quality of snow to receive skiers and snowboarders, thanks to the snowfall of the first days of June and the low temperatures that allowed an important work to manufacture artificial snow.

Cerro Castor works with all the health protocols in place in the framework of the pandemic caused by Covid-19.

Located just 26 kilometers from Ushuaia, the complex offers the best conditions to enjoy multiple options of winter sports and entertainment: 34 slopes with different levels of difficulty, 12 lifts, the largest snowpark in South America, a ski circuit cross, an area for beginners and off-piste, all in an area of ​​more than 650 skiable hectares. In addition, it has an ice skating rink, a cross-country ski circuit and has a wide network of artificial snow, guaranteeing snow to the base of the complex throughout the season.

Safety as a priority

Cerro Castor has the experience of last year in the implementation of strict sanitary protocols to receive, in conditions of maximum safety, skiers. Preventive measures include social distancing of one and a half meters in all sectors of the ski center (both inside and outside the facilities) mandatory use of face masks, masks or buff; hand and surface hygiene, use of gloves and eye protection for both staff and visitors. In addition, informative posters were available at the entrances to buildings with general recommendations as well as sanitizing towers in strategic places such as ticket offices, gastronomy areas and equipment delivery and reception areas, as well as the corresponding disinfection of poles, skis, boots. and helmets prior to their new use.

News: Online sales and improvements

This year it presents as a novelty the new online sales platform. It is a software that allows you to buy passes and rent equipment, from the website www.cerrocastor.com, in a fast and efficient process. In a second stage it will also be possible to book ski and snowboard lessons and / or book accommodation.

During the summer, work was also carried out on the extension of the cross-country skiing circuit, which is part of the PIPEF, completing a total of 18 kilometers round trip to the Harwuen winter resort.

Another novelty is the new arrangement of Rental de Morada, which now offers its services in a more comfortable, accessible and agile way to its clients.

Everything to learn and have fun as a family

Cerro Castor has a renowned ski and snowboard school, with the best professionals, so that all who wish to can learn or improve in these disciplines. In addition, cross-country skiing classes, adaptive skiing and clinics are offered at the SnowPark.

There are also options for the little ones: there are 3 key products that highlight the quality of the service: School (from 7 to 14 years old), Snow Garden (Mini ski school for boys from 3 to 6 years old) and Nursery (for babies to from 3 months onwards).

Gastronomy, another outstanding

The complex has eight gastronomic points, four located at the base and four at different heights of the hill, in addition to two mountain refuges.

The most emblematic of them is the Morada del Águila restaurant. The famous and consecrated Fuegian lamb roasted on the cross, are added casseroles, spider crab sushi and high-level pastries, which are part of the varied offer offered by the restaurants and bars of the complex, which also have options for celiacs .

In Cerro Castor, 30% of the mountain is covered by an artificial snow system. 28 manufacturing equipment (between cannons and lances) guarantee optimal snow conditions throughout the season, with snow up to the base, and position it as one of the centers with the greatest technological innovation in the region.

Since its inception, it has distinguished itself as the destination chosen by the main international skier teams at this time of year. Its slopes approved by the International Ski Federation and its quality of snow equate it with the main European centers.

Skiing at night

One of the most exclusive and fascinating experiences for fanatic skiers is undoubtedly Night Skiing. You start from the base in machines treading tracks that climb the mountain to one of its most imposing points, La Brecha, from where the descent begins, which culminates in the Old Castor vintage restaurant, one of the warmest and most welcoming refuges.

The Night Experience takes place with a minimum of 10 visitors, starts at 6.15pm and is available to take place throughout the season.
