California is the state hardest hit by the pandemic with 63,193 deaths, followed by New York (53,549), Texas (51,929), Florida (37,265), Pennsylvania (27,479), New Jersey (26,330) and Illinois (25,481).

Other states with a large number of deaths are Georgia (21,158), Michigan (20,778), Ohio (20,091), Massachusetts (17,939) or Arizona (17,761).

In terms of infections, California has 3,801,728, followed by Texas with 2,977,373, third is Florida with 2,344,321 and New York is fourth with 2,109,313.

The provisional death toll -599,768- far exceeds the lower limit of the initial estimates of the White House, which projected in the best of cases between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths due to the pandemic.

US President Joe Biden has predicted that a total of more than 600,000 people in the country will die from the virus.

Regarding vaccines, some 173.8 million people (52.4% of the population) have received at least one dose, of which 143.9 million (43.4%) are already fully inoculated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
