Inflation: in May it would be 3.6%

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) will announce on Wednesday the variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI-Cost of Living) for May. According to the latest Market Expectations Survey, carried out at the end of May by the Central Bank among some 40 consulting firms and banks in the financial sector, inflation in May would be 3.6%, below the 4.1% in April. Last week, Matías Kulfas, Minister of Productive Development, affirmed that the slowdown in inflation was verified in May and announced that this week there will be announcements with initiatives to shore up that trend. The official explained that the economy is “absorbing an international price shock” and specified that “throughout the world there was great inflation in food and in Argentina it hit more.”
