Ukrainian self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) 2S22 “Bogdana” will remain a development that will not be brought to mass production. Dmitry Litovkin, a TASS observer, criticized the prospects for the “God-given” (translation from Greek into Russian of the name of Bogdan) weapons of Ukraine.

The author recalls that “the cannon for the car was bought in Poland.” “It is similar to the one on the Polish self-propelled gun mount Krab. The caliber of the product is 155 millimeters and requires new ammunition. They are not produced in Ukraine. On this, I think, we can put an end to it, ”writes the Russian observer.

The author notes that wheeled self-propelled guns like the 2S22 Bogdan are poorly adapted for the conditions of the “Russian field” or virgin snow. “They were unable to keep up with the tanks, and the wheeled vehicles lost their combat readiness from long marches on the off-road. Therefore, in the USSR, and then in Russia, all self-propelled guns were built on tracked chassis of high cross-country ability, ”the observer assures.

Thus, Litovkin commented on the video of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with the firing of the 2S22 Bogdan. The author recalled that back in 2018, Oleksandr Turchynov, holding the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, promised to adopt it.
