The slogans “Glory to Ukraine” and “Glory to the Heroes” became the official football symbols of the country. This was announced on Facebook by the President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andriy Pavelko.
He noted that all 45 members of the executive committee of the organization voted unanimously for the adoption of such a decision on Friday, June 11. According to the head of the UAF, slogans have long become a greeting for millions of Ukrainian fans both in the country and abroad.
On June 10, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) ordered the Ukrainian national team to remove the slogan “Glory to the Heroes” from the uniform for the European Championship. The organization did not see any violations in the application of the slogan “Glory to Ukraine”, but the slogan “Glory to the Heroes”, according to the representatives of the organization, in combination with the former carries a political meaning.
On June 7, it was reported that UEFA agreed on the uniform of the Ukrainian national team, where, in addition to two slogans, a map of the country with the Crimean peninsula is depicted. The form was presented by Pavelko.
