Sweden’s royal family prepares for a big family event. According to the international press, there is already a date for the christening of the princes’ youngest son Carl Philip e Sofia, Julian, who was born on March 26th.
Prince Julian’s christening will take place on August 14th and will take place in the palace church of Drottningholm.
Note that the christening of the eighth grandson of kings Carlos Gustavo e Sílvia marks a ‘break’ in family traditions for two reasons. First, because it is common for the babies in the family to be baptized when they are three months old. Julian will receive this sacrament at almost five months. Then, because, according to an official statement, the ceremony will not be broadcast on television, contrary to custom. In fact, as long as the princess heir Victoria was baptized in 1977, all royal baptisms have been broadcast on SVT, the country’s public television.
