In the Presnensky Court of Moscow, the prosecutor, during the debate, requested six years in prison for the former employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry Natalya Agaltsova, accused of stealing one million dollars. This is reported by REN TV.
The prosecutor asked to declare the defendant guilty under Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Misappropriation or embezzlement of someone else’s property entrusted to the guilty person, with the use of an official position on an especially large scale”).
The defense asked to acquit Agaltsova.
The announcement of the verdict is scheduled for June 15.
On December 19, 2019, after the collection was carried out in room 514 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the accused worked, a shortage was discovered. Agaltsova, an expert at the Foreign Ministry’s monetary and financial department, was responsible for receiving, accounting, issuing and storing cash. She was detained the next day at a dacha in the suburbs.
According to the investigation, Agaltsova took out from the Foreign Office on December 16 and 18, 2019, in two parts, first 19.8 million rubles, and then 760.6 thousand dollars. At the same time, she captured the “strict reporting forms.” The total damage was estimated by the investigation at 67.5 million rubles. The missing funds were related to the provision of consular services in Iran.
During the investigation, Agaltsova claimed that there was no longer enough cash in the box with the money that arrived from this country. She does not admit her guilt in embezzling money.
