Sánchez: “All our rejection of the vicarious and sexist violence that some deny”

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has demanded this Friday “unity” from all parties to face the fight against sexist violence, after the last cases of minors murdered in Tenerife and Seville, and has criticized that some formations have “trivialized” the laws and specific instruments to combat this scourge.

In this sense, she has defended that when talking about feminism and gender violence, we must assume that they are not “ideological” issues but rather Human Rights. On the other hand, he has avoided ruling on whether he believes that part of the problem also lies in the fact that Justice is “patriarchal”, as the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, maintains.

This has been confirmed by Sánchez during the press conference that he has offered together with the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, after their bilateral meeting, framed in his Latin American tour that has also taken him to Argentina.

“When we see the horror of gender-based and vicarious violence, which is double violence against women, because it also threatens them because they are mothers, against their children, we realize how important it is to have specific laws and those laws have been trivialized, they have been questioned by some political parties ”, he criticized.

The Chief Executive has already taken advantage of his initial intervention in the appearance to once again show his solidarity, that of the Government and that of Spanish society as a whole, to the families of the latest victims of a new “black day”, in which Spain has seen “face to face with horror.”

“We realize how important it is to have specific regulations and laws that deal with this horror,” he said, while showing his support for feminist organizations and the men and women who this Friday have come out to demonstrate in Spain to protest against these sexist crimes, because they want the “eradication” of this type of violence.

Subsequently, when asked specifically about Montero’s reflection on the role of Justice, Sánchez has argued that the important thing is to “continue to redouble efforts and resources” to fight against gender-based violence, for example, with measures such as the one approved on last Tuesday to provide the autonomous communities with more funds for the State Pact against gender violence.

Of course, he has also defended the need for everyone to understand that feminism and the fight against sexist violence is not an issue that cannot be “frivolized” or “trivialized”, “even saying that such violence is not suffered by women but it is intrafamily ”, in clear allusion to the proposals of Vox.

“Nerd. It is gender violence that charges against women because they are women, that is why I believe that on a day like today, so sad, such a black day for Spanish society, with all that we have lived and known, and thanking the enormous work of the State Security Forces and Bodies, which have not given up until they find the bodies ”, he added.

According to Sánchez, it is at a time like this when everyone must “vindicate the State Pact, remove any consideration of partisan and ideological struggle, and advance all in feminism as a movement in favor of Human Rights.”

“We have to be aware that there are territories in which we have to unite, which transcend ideological issues, and one of them is feminism and gender violence,” he emphasized.
