Russian citizens return home via Georgia from Turkey

The process of returning home of Russian citizens who have been stuck in Turkey in their cars since March last year has intensified

TBILISI, 11 Jun – Sputnik. After the opening of the land borders by Georgia, Russian citizens were able to return to their homeland in their cars, said the Russian Consul General in Trabzon, Valery Tikhonov.

Georgia has opened its land borders since June 1, which have been closed for over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“After Georgia opened its land borders, the process of returning home of Russian citizens who have been stuck in Turkey in their cars since March last year has intensified. The Consulate General of the Russian Federation closely monitors the logistics dynamics in the consular district, in particular at the Sarpi checkpoint, and provides support on crossing land borders, “Tikhonov told RIA Novosti.

All foreigners vaccinated against COVID-19 can come to Georgia (with the exception of people who have visited India in the past two weeks). The Georgian government has also compiled a list of countries whose citizens can come to Georgia without vaccination, but with a negative PCR test for coronavirus, taken 72 hours before arrival. In this case, the foreigner will have to take a second PCR test on the third day after arrival at his own expense.
