Lhe minister should be able to represent the majority. The local court of Lens (Pas-de-Calais) on Friday rejected the two appeals filed by political opponents of the Minister of Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher, LREM candidate for regional in Hauts-de-France, who requested his removal from the city’s electoral lists. The court ruled inadmissible the appeal of Louis Macaigne, presented as “sympathizer of Xavier Bertrand” by the entourage of the minister, but who denies being “piloted” by anyone. The court also rejected on the merits the request of the ex-candidate (RN) to the municipal elections of 2020 in Lens, Bruno Clavet.
The judgment notes that Agnès Pannier-Runacher “has proven her home in Lens since May 9, the date on which she declared herself and lives in cohabitation with Nicolas Bays”, former PS deputy of Pas-de- Calais domiciled in Lens, reported the lawyer for Minister Olivier Bluche, requested by AFP. “She deplores this attempt to instrumentalize the judicial institution at the expense of the taxpayer, as well as the repeated attacks on her private life to which she has been the subject for several weeks by certain political opponents, reiterated in the context of the proceedings ”in court, reacted Olivier Bluche.
At Wednesday’s hearing, Bruno Clavet’s lawyer said all the documents produced by the minister were “subsequent to the listing on the electoral roll” of Lens, acknowledged a “fully assumed political maneuver” by his client and denounced a “political nomadism” of Agnès Pannier-Runacher, a candidate for mayor in Paris in 2020.
