Mediaset Spain makes another move. The Fuencarral group has decided to relegate the broadcast of ‘Top Star’ to ‘late night’ on Saturday due to its discreet audience results. Telecinco will take advantage of the arrival of Euro 2021 to restructure its grid, however, it seems that not all its programs will suffer the same fate. Strategic discrimination. The chain, on the other hand, will keep the broadcasting of those programs that report the best results as far as possible.
Both Friday and Saturday Telecinco will broadcast the game at 9:00 p.m., however, it will opt for very different strategies. This Friday the ‘Deluxe’ will start its broadcast after the match, at 11:00 p.m., while on Saturday it will offer the program ‘The Eurocup: Together in Mediaset’ as soon as the clash between the teams of Belgium and Russia has finished. This one-hour special will force gala 5 of ‘Top Star’ to be delayed at 00:00, so the musical contest will end at two thirty in the morning.
Mediaset Spain has no intention of removing ‘Top Star’ from the grid
As EL CONFI TV has learned, It is a new gala and not a replacement. In any case, Mediaset España still has time to back down and reconsider its strategy, especially taking into account the cost of a program of these characteristics.
The group has already announced that Telecinco will offer the matches that will be played at 9:00 p.m. on the next two Saturdays (Belgium-Russia and Spain-Poland), however, it remains to be seen what will happen with the next two games to be played on June 26 and July 3. If there are no changes, it seems that Telecinco will also host these broadcasts, although there is still no official confirmation.
‘Top Star’ will continue on the grid
Telecinco had the possibility of withdrawing ‘Top Star’ from the grid, hiding itself in the European Championship, however, it has decided to continue with its broadcasts, despite its poor results. What is clear is that Mediaset Spain has decided to throw in the towel, after unsuccessfully relocating it in prime time on Saturday.
‘Top Star’ kicked off on Friday night, however, nothing could do against ‘La Voz Kids’. The ‘talent’ of Antena 3 left the new Telecinco format without options, which led those responsible to change its broadcast day after its first two galas.
But on Saturday night ‘Top Star’ has reaped worse results, despite not having any competition. Jesús Vázquez’s program fell to 8.6% in its third program and worsened its result by 4 tenths in its last broadcast. The latest installment even fell below 1 million followers.
Audiences for ‘Top Star’:
– Gala 1: 1.523.000 (11,2%)
– Gala 2: 1.130.000 (9,3%)
– Gala 3: 1.061.000 (8,6%)
– Gala 4: 987.000 (8,2%)
Mediaset Spain had in their hands the possibility of reserving ‘Top Star’ for this summer, as he already did in the last European Championship with the program ‘Get Up All Stars’ (2016), produced by La Competencia. The ‘talent’, which was also broadcast on Saturday night, disappeared from the grid in June 2016 and returned a month later, once the Eurocup was over. Curiously, a week before making this decision, the program marked a minimum of the season after signing 13.7% (1,630,000).
