The Ministry of Defense (Mindef) reported that, after fulfilling its mission of providing security to citizens during the second round of the General Elections 2021 On June 6, Army, Navy and Air Force personnel assigned for said mission returned to their military bases.
For this work 9,445 military patrols were deployed. According to the Defense sector, these elections went smoothly, which made it possible to guarantee the security of the electoral process and ensure compliance with the free exercise of the right to vote for Peruvians.

The military patrols were made up by 61 thousand members of the three institutions armed, Army, Navy and Air Force, organized in Operational Commands and under the direction of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CC.FF.AA.), in coordination with the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).
The Ministry of Education indicated that in accordance with the Political Constitution and electoral laws, the functions of the Armed Forces are guarantee the free exercise of the right to vote, protect electoral officials and guard the material and documents related to the elections.

It is worth remembering that during this day the participation of the Armed Forces was in support of the National Police of Peru (PNP). This last institution reported that there were more than 106 thousand agents from the different police units that provided security before, during and after the second round of elections, in order to guarantee the normal development of the process at the national level.
