Chairman of the Supreme Election Commission of Adjara re-elected for a second term

Parmen Jalagonia will oversee the elections in Adjara for another six years – only the “Georgian Dream” deputation voted for his re-election for a second term

TBILISI, 11 Jun – Sputnik. The head of the Supreme Election Commission, Parmen Jalagonia, was re-elected for a second term – the decision was made by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Jalagonia’s re-election for another six years took place amid disputes between representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition United National Movement party.

The latter demanded that they be given the opportunity to ask Jalagonia questions, but did not receive this opportunity.

Jalogia received support in the Supreme Council only from the “Georgian Dream”. The opposition decided not to vote in protest.

Jalagoniya received his first appointment as chairman of the Supreme Election Commission, which is in charge of elections in the Adjara Autonomy, in 2016, before that he worked in the government of the Autonomy.
