O Botafogo this Friday, 11th, the statue of Tullius Wonder in the east sector of the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. Through social networks, Glorioso exhibited moments of the commemorative event, which included the participation of directors and forwards from the current squad – Rafael Navarro, Rafael Moura and Matheus Nascimento, as well as, of course, the 1995 Brazilian champion jersey and one of the biggest idols in the club’s history. The work, made by the plastic artist Edgar Duvivier, was commissioned by the former president Carlos Augusto Montenegro.

Moved, Túlio thanked the affection and took the opportunity to talk about the pandemic of new coronavirus. “First I want to thank God that we are alive, in the midst of this chaos, this pandemic. I want to thank President Durcesio for this statue project being carried out. Also thank our eternal president Montenegro, who cannot be present today. If it weren’t for him, this statue would not be possible, we have a loving relationship. We would also like to thank our personal friend Marcelo Guimarães, the creator of this project, who managed to get the vote from the Council for this project to be carried out. I also want to thank the 1995 commission, Antônio Rodrigues and Edson Santana, not counting all the players. None of this would have happened today if not for the help of my teammates. And also thank the fans, because who makes an idol is the fans, who have always supported me. I am very grateful to the fans who made me an idol and made me rescue this passion I have for Botafogo”, declared the former player, who also won the 1998 Rio-São Paulo Tournament with the Glorioso shirt.

Current president of the Rio de Janeiro club, which competes in the B Series of the Brazilian Championship, Durcesio Mello also praised the work and the importance of the former striker for the history of Botafogo. “It’s a historic moment for Botafogo. Tulio is an idol of the younger generations. I was at Pacaembu in that game (1995). I told him that we would find some way to honor him and I’m very happy and honored to be starting this new pantaleon of idols”, he celebrated.
