An ESO book states that canaries pronounce “muyayo” and “coye”

A few days ago, numerous canaries on Twitter asked the Royal Spanish Academy to accept the term in its glossary canariety, with regard to any connection with the Archipelago.

A debate that jumped to social networks, and from which questions as puzzling and witty have been known as the one highlighted by Moisés, a master of Los Realejos who was perplexed. “This if it is canariety of the good one ”, published on Wednesday in his personal account.

Sonido CH: This sound is pronounced in a particular way, bringing it closer to the Y sound: veryayo, coye“. It is a book from the Santillana publishing house for the First Canary Islands of ESO with which the teacher himself came across during the private classes he teaches.

“I had never seen anything like this,” acknowledged Moisés, who assures that the islanders “do not see this as something real” and although “it appears written in a book, it cannot be taken as an absolute truth.”
