With Uniforia, the sports equipment giant wants to emphasize solidarity. This is on the occasion of the anniversary edition of the tournament, which will take place for the first time across Europe – in 11 countries. The tournament should also have brought fans together, but corona has kept that to a minimum.
The name Uniforia is a mix of unity (‘Unity’) and euphoria (‘Euforia’). Made of “Hi-White” the ball is more visible on the field. The design is characterized by the GPS coordinates of the 12 stadiums originally planned. And that is no longer true: the Irish capital Dublin has lost weight and in Spain Sevilla is replacing Bilbao. Because of corona.
For the first time in the 60+1 year history of the European Championship, the tournament will take place in 11 different countries. “The artful design of the EC Ball Uniforia is therefore based on the blurring of boundaries, with black lines reminiscent of streaks of paint,” explains Adidas.
“The bright colors that complement these lines on the ball represent the diversity within the different teams and their fans. Together they symbolize how the sport brings these different cultures together at the tournament and unites them across borders.”
“In terms of shape, the ball owes its optimal roundness to the same structure and panels as those of the recent FIFA World Cup models. This ensures maximum performance both on the pitch and on the street.”
Uniforia is the successor to Beau Jeu, the ball that was played at the 2016 European Championship in France. Four years earlier, the Tango 12 scored in Poland and Ukraine. (See photos of the ball below)
