When on the first line "Nord Stream – 2" gas will go

The offshore section of the first string of Nord Stream 2 is technically completed, work on the second string continues

TBILISI, June 10 – Sputnik. Commissioning work on the first string of Nord Stream 2 will take several months, according to a statement from Nord Stream 2 AG, the pipeline operator.

The construction operator has already connected all the parts of the first string of the gas pipeline, and from 11 June it starts commissioning work to prepare the pipe for filling with gas.

“On June 4, the pipe-laying was completed, today the overlap was carried out – the offshore sections of the gas pipeline laid from the side of Russia and Germany are interconnected. Starting tomorrow, commissioning works on filling the pipeline with gas will begin,” the statement says.

The company also clarified that pipe-laying work on the offshore section of the second string continues, taking into account all the necessary permits.

Earlier it was reported that according to preliminary estimates, the construction of the gas pipeline may be completed before the parliamentary elections in Germany, which are scheduled for autumn.

The Nord Stream 2 project involves the construction of two lines of a gas pipeline from the Russian coast to Germany across the Baltic Sea. The total capacity will be up to 55 billion cubic meters per year. The gas pipeline passes through the territorial zones of Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
