More than 14,000 infections and 133 deaths: Health reports a rebound in the pandemic after an adjustment in Catalonia

An adjustment in the epidemiological data of Catalonia has added this Thursday almost 10,000 new infections to the figures of the Ministry of Health, which has notified a total of 14,004 new coronavirus infections and 133 deaths with positive diagnosis in Spain.

“Catalonia has updated its database incorporating 9,381 cases with a diagnosis date between January 1 and June 6 that had not been previously notified “, specifies the department headed by Carolina Darias in the report. In this way, Spain continues to be at the level of Medium risk (incidence between 50 and 150 cases), according to the Health ‘Covid traffic light’, and it is still far from reaching the low risk (between 25 and 50 cases) due to its transmission.

Andalusia, Basque Country Y The Rioja are still the only autonomous communities that are still at the level of high risk (more than 150 incidence cases). La Rioja (199), although it has dropped three points, remains the community with the highest incidence, followed by Andalusia (189) and the Basque Country (171), which has also registered a five-point decrease in incidence compared to this Wednesday.

Four regions are located on the opposite side, the epidemiological situation of which has been experiencing a considerable improvement when presenting data typical of the new normal: Baleares (with 40 incidence cases), Valencian Community (43), Ceuta (43) and Galicia (46).

Also, there are twelve territories at medium risk of transmission (between 50 and 150 cases): Aragón (121.7), Asturias (73.3), Canarias (70.9), Cantabria (73), Castilla-La Mancha (89.3), Castilla y León (115, 7), Catalonia (107.7), Extremadura (68.1), Madrid (122.2), Melilla (128.6), Murcia (50.5) and Navarra (131.8).

It also decreases, although slightly, the hospital pressure in Spain, where there have been 377 admissions and 490 discharges in the last 14 hours. There are currently 3,566 patients admitted for coronavirus (2.88% occupancy), and 1,005 in the ICU (10.5%). Furthermore, although the Madrid’s community has registered the highest percentage of occupancy in ICU (23.27%), consolidates its improvement after having left the high risk level (more than 25% occupancy) this Wednesday.
