Doctors in Kenya injected local residents with water instead of the coronavirus vaccine and demanded money for it. This is reported by Vice.
It is clarified that the inhabitants of the African country have the right to free vaccination with the preparation of the Swedish-British company AstraZeneca. Vaccinations take place in special medical centers accredited by the government. However, against the background of a shortage of the drug, some doctors began to offer Kenyans a vaccine for money, and then inject water instead.
The Minister of Health urged citizens not to pay for vaccinations and wait for a free drug. According to the official, the authorities have already started investigating such cases of fraud and opened a criminal case.
In January, it was reported that Ecuadorian police had caught an alternative medicine clinic in administering tens of thousands of doses of a fake coronavirus vaccine. The center offered patients injections of an unknown substance at a cost of $ 15, promising immunity from COVID-19 after three injections. At the same time, the administration of the clinic claimed that it was not selling vaccines, but “serums and vitamins” to strengthen the immune system. The owner of the hospital said she had cured 20,000 patients.
