From the January 1 until the May 9 of this year (when the state of alarm ended) 128 days passed. In that period, eight women were killed in attacks by sexist violence. Well, from the end of the alarm until yesterday they only passed 29 days. In this second span of time nine women lost their lives at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, the last one yesterday. These figures reflect an irrefutable reality: the frequency with which deadly attacks of sexist violence are taking place has multiplied since the decree of the state of alarm declined, since a case has gone from registering one case every 16 days when it was in force to one every three since he is not.
The last woman to be included in these statistics was murdered yesterday in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). She was 59 years old and of British descent; his aggressor, 66 and Spanish nationality. The man shot her with a long gun and then took his own life. The first hypotheses suggest that the events occurred after a strong discussion. It was a security guard of the urbanization in which they lived who alerted Room 091 of the noises in the house, located on Corzo street, near the Casa de Campo.
When they entered the house, the police officers located the lifeless bodies of the man and the woman, with individual shots in the head and chest, according to police sources.
Citizen security agents also traveled to the place to verify the facts and the Violent Crimes Group of the Scientific Police together with agents of the Homicide Group who are investigating the events. The gun with which the shots were fired was at the home. The National Police has taken charge of the investigation to clarify how the events happened.
Since the Government compiled a statistic of fatal victims of gender violence, 1,095 women have been murdered.
Most are foreigners
Of the 17 women murdered For their partners or ex-partners since the beginning of the year, nine were foreigners (53%) and eight, Spanish (47%). The majority of the aggressors, however, are Spanish: 15 of 17 are, which translates into 88% compared to 12% of foreigners.
