Mexico.- International electoral observers from the left, from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighted that Mexico is an example for the countries of the world for the realization of what they considered as “the best elections in the history of Mexico”, this in reference to the election day of Sunday, June 6.
They pointed out that there are strong elements to affirm that the country has a great democratic system.
At a press conference, the representative of Bolivia to the United Nations (HIM-HER-IT), emphasized that, except for some violent events focused on Tijuana or the state of Oaxaca, this did not detract from the smooth running of the electoral elections.

However, he nevertheless maintained that Mexico experienced the best election in its democratic history, despite dragging some obstacles that still need to be overcome, such as the identification of spaces to locate the exact place where citizens come to cast their vote.
For his part, Teri Mattson, representative of the organization Codepink Women for Peace, stated that just last week Colombia held an electoral process, which was very different from what happened during the Mexican midterm elections. In this sense, he stated that the way in which the civic festival of Mexico was developed represents an inspiration for all of America.
María Teresa Mola, representative of the party of the European LeftHe expressed that in European countries they would like to have a democracy and a government like those of the Mexican Republic.

He also noted that he was surprised by the great citizen participation, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. While, he mentioned that the main problem he detected was misinformation by the National Electoral Institute (OTHER) and the media. He accused that the latter attacked the federal government, trying to manipulate the citizenry to vote against it.
Alejandro Navarro, senator of Chile, assured that the big winner of the June 6 elections was Mexico and all citizens, noting that democracy has grown in the country thanks to the large population that went to the polls. Like his colleagues, he highlighted the broad participation of citizens and affirmed that it is a sign that there is democracy in the nation.
On the other hand, Marisa Revilla, representative of the Movement of the Citizen Revolution of Ecuador, said that, in general terms, “Mexico has evolved in terms of democratic stability”, as she highlighted that the majority of Mexicans gave their support to the party of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, thereby showing that “he is doing very well.”
All observers agreed to reject the acts of violence prior to the elections, however, they ruled out detecting a climate of violence during election day.
