Minister of Health informed that the RT-PCR test will be applied and that none of the exams will be done through the SUS
the minister of health Marcelo Queiroga said that the athletes who will compete for the America Cup 2021 no Brazil will be tested daily during the tournament period. The statement was made during a press conference granted in the early evening of Monday, 7, less than a week before the start of the competition. During his speech, Queiroga said that the tests are part of the control measures and detailed the action. “The quick test will not be (done), it will be the RT-PCR. Even the deadline for performing the RT-PCR was shortened, initially it was planned to perform the test every three days and between one exam and another, do a quick test. He put himself to do these tests daily,” explained the minister, who also informed that “none of these tests will be carried out by the Health Unic System (SUS)”. In addition, Queiroga spoke about the mandatory vaccination of athletes, stating that this “is not an imposition”. “Those who are vaccinated, the better. But no greater effort will be made to vaccinate these athletes now. Even because the vaccine could even cause some kind of reaction and this could, in some way, compromise the competitive rhythm of the players”, argued the minister.
