Meghan and Prince Harry are the parents of a girl: their name pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and Lady Di

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry of England and his wife, Meghan Markle, they have been parents of a girl, as confirmed by the couple themselves through a statement.

The girl, second son of the dukes, was born Friday morning at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, where the family has resided for just under a year, after leaving the UK and their duties as members of the English royal family.

The parents have decided to give their daughter a name that honors two key figures for the royal family: the little girl is called Lilibet Diana, although the dukes already refer to her as ‘Lili’.

Lilibet It is the affectionate nickname with which the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, was known during her youth, a name that is still used by her closest relatives even today.

For its part, Diana It is the name of Prince Harry’s mother, Diana of Wales, who died in a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.

The girl thus joins Archie Harrison, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, born in London on May 6, 2019.
