McGregor, 32, a big star of mixed martial arts, he made a total of 180 million dollars in the last 12 months after having sold his majority stake in the whiskey brand “Proper No.12” to the Mexican multinational Becle for about 150 million dollars.

This is the first time that the fighter is at the top of the Forbes list, which last year was led by tennis player Roger Federer.

Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo continue on the podium, which during the last year earned 130 and 120 million dollars respectively.

The Barcelona star earned $ 97 million for his work on the pitch, according to Forbes, which are added another 33 million earned off the field through sponsorship contracts with various brands, including the German Adidas.

Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, earned $ 70 million on green and another $ 50 million with its contracts with Nike and its own businesses in fashion, hotels and gyms, among other things.

Total, eight sports are represented in the list, led by American football, which places 18 players among the 50 with the highest income, thanks to several new entries this year, and lower income for NBA stars due to the effects of the pandemic.
